US-Bound Air India Flight Lands In Canada After Bomb Threat

Several Indian flights received fake bomb threats on Tuesday, leading to the grounding of aircrafts. The flights that received the hoax bomb threats includes Delhi-Chicago Air India flight, the Jaipur-Bengaluru Air India Express, the Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight, the Darbhanga-Mumbai SpiceJet flight, the Siliguri-Bengaluru Akasa Air flight, an Alliance Air Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi flight and an Air India Express flight from Madurai to Singapore.

In a statement, the Air India informed that the the US bound flight from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Iqaluit Airport in Canada following a bomb threat. The airline said that as a precautionary measure to a security threat posted online, the flight Al127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024 landed at Iqaluit Airport in Canada.

The airline stated that the passengers are being re-screened as per the laid down security protocol. “Air India has activated agencies at the airport to assist the passengers until such time that their journey can resume. The airline also noted that other local airlines have also been subject to a number of threats in recent days, adding that though all have subsequently been found to be hoaxes, as a responsible airline operator all threats are taken seriously.

“Air India is extending all cooperation to authorities in identifying the perpetrators of such threats to ensure that they are held accountable for the disruption and inconvenience caused to passengers, and will consider legal action against those responsible to recover damages incurred by the airline,” said the airline in a post on X.
