Will Aseem Arun Replace Yogi Adityanath As Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister

Journalist Rohini Singh’s social media post about the possible replacement of Yogi Adityanath has ignited speculations about the saffron party’s next choice if it decides to change the chief minister in India’s most populated state.

In a post on X, the journalist wrote, “A former IPS officer who has caste equations on his side and is known to be measured, calm, capable, and non controversial is being looked at as a possible replacement for Yogi if the BJP leadership decides to change the UP CM.”

The journalist further suggested that Noida channels should start doing ‘chaaplusi’ of this MLA, who is likely to play a major role in UP BJP in the future.

Given the civil service background and other qualities mentioned in the post, comment sections have begun pointing out potential faces, with former IPS officer Aseem Arun’s name floating. Notably, there are only two former bearcats in the current UP cabinet, one the former IPS officer Aseem Arun and the former IAS officer Arvind Kumar Sharma.

Replying to a comment that suggested Sharma’s name, Rohini Singh wrote, “How is Sharma a former IPS officer or measured and calm?”

With this, many have confirmed that the name the journalist suggested could be Aseem Arun. The UP minister and 1994 batch officer,  Aseem Arun resigned as an IPS to kickstart his political careers and announced joining the BJP in January 2022. He won the following assembly elections the same year from the SP stronghold, Kannauj Sadar. After his electoral success in his debut contest, the BJP leader visited his rival SP candidate as a show of courtesy, surprising many.

The former IPS officer was also given a place in the second Yogi cabinet, becoming a minister of independent charge.
