Witness Reveals What Delhi Teen Said Minutes Before Jumping Off Metro: Report

The Class 10 student who died by suicide in Delhi earlier this week appeared visibly shaken, repeatedly crying and alleging year-long “torture” by teachers during his final journey from school to the metro station, eyewitness told Hindustan Times.

Her testimony has now become a crucial part of the police investigation into the circumstances leading up to the boy’s death, as per a report by Hindustan Times.

The witness, Deepshika, a 45-year-old homemaker, told Hindustan Times she boarded an e-rickshaw outside the school around 2.15 pm along with her son and another student.

Moments later, the boy joined them. From the instant he sat down, she recalled, he seemed deeply distressed and kept urging the driver to rush toward RK Ashram Metro Station.

When she gently asked him why he was crying, the teen reportedly spoke in broken, agitated sentences about the difficulties he had been facing at school.

He said he regretted enrolling there, complained that teachers frequently called his parents over what he described as minor issues, and claimed this “pressure” had continued throughout the academic year.

When asked which teachers he was referring to, he allegedly named four of them, as per Hindustan Times.

According to Deepshika, the boy kept wiping his tears and spoke about his father, a businessman who often worked out of state.

He questioned how his parents were expected to travel repeatedly to school while managing demanding jobs.

Despite attempts by others in the e-rickshaw to comfort him, his distress only appeared to intensify.

The vehicle reached Gole Market, one stop before RK Ashram, where Deepshika got down. She noticed the boy had no money to pay the fare and handed him a ₹10 note before stepping off. He thanked her softly.

Around 2.45 pm, roughly half an hour later, the teen jumped from the metro station platform to the road below.

Authorities confirmed that following a complaint from the boy’s father, Delhi Police registered an FIR on Thursday.

The school has since placed four teachers under suspension pending investigation.

Speaking again on Friday to Hindustan Times, Deepshika said she wished she had realised how severe the boy’s emotional turmoil was at the time.

As investigators attempted to reconstruct the boy’s final hours, a handwritten note recovered from his school bag emerged as a significant piece of evidence.

According to police, the note describes what the boy referred to as repeated humiliation, harsh reprimands, and sustained “torture” by certain teachers over several months.

He reportedly named four of them and wrote that they “should be punished” for the treatment he said he endured.

The message, addressed in parts to his family, also included an apology to his parents and elder brother.

In one line, he expressed a hope that no other student should suffer the kind of alleged treatment he faced.
