The SSC CGL 2024 controversy has sparked an online outcry, with candidates flooding social media platform X with demands for transparency in the final results. The hashtag #SSC_CGL_2024_SCAM is trending as aspirants call for the immediate release of the final answer key, alleging inconsistencies in the normalisation process.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recently announced the SSC CGL 2024 final results, qualifying 18,174 candidates for the Tier 2 exam, which took place in January. However, several aspirants have raised concerns about discrepancies in marks, claiming that candidates with lower raw scores secured higher normalised marks.
Aspirants Voice Their Concerns
Many candidates have expressed frustration over the perceived lack of transparency in the recruitment process, which includes a Tier 1 exam, Tier 2 exam, document verification, and a skill test.
Speaking to News18, an aspirant named Abhishek criticised the results, stating, “Many deserving candidates were excluded without any clear reason. Marks were manipulated in the name of normalisation. Like every time, SSC has not provided any clarification. Why is this recruitment process so opaque? Students dedicate years to preparation, only to face such injustice.”
Another candidate, Pooja, pointed out inconsistencies in selection, saying, “A candidate gets selected with 299 marks, while in the same shift, many others with 320 or 330 marks are not selected. How long will this injustice continue? SSC should release the SSC CGL 2024 Final Answer Key and marks.”
A mathematics teacher joined the debate on X, urging transparency: “All students have a common demand—release the SSC CGL 2024 final answer key and marks! We need transparency, not uncertainty. SSC must respond immediately!”
X user Umed Pratap Singh highlighted a significant discrepancy in normalisation, writing, “The SSC CGL 2024 final results were released on March 13 and are mired in controversy. One candidate received 96.7 extra marks compared to their raw score, while many others saw no increase at all. How can such a huge difference exist without any hidden motive? Normalisation is a big scam. All important exams should be conducted in a single shift.”
Another user sarcastically commented on SSC’s delay, posting, “Why is SSC taking so long to release the final answer key? Are they waiting for an astrologer to decide an auspicious time?”
SSC Responds, But Questions Remain
Amid mounting pressure, the SSC released a statement on March 12, addressing the grievances. The commission stated that representations from candidates were based on tentative answer keys, which had been revised following an objection review. The final results were declared on December 6, 2023, based on modified answer keys. SSC asserted that some questions had been changed or removed, and the updated answer keys had been used for final evaluation.
The statement further added: “None of these grievances have been found to be genuine, and all such representations are treated as closed.” However, SSC assured candidates that the final answer keys and marks for SSC CGL 2023 (Tier-2) would be uploaded on its website shortly.
Despite SSC’s clarification, aspirants remain unconvinced. Many are demanding an immediate release of the final answer key to verify their scores and ensure transparency in the selection process.
