The UK home office announced the India Young Professional Scheme Ballot to allow Indian citizens to obtain visas to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. The eligibility for the Indian Young Professional Scheme visa is determined by the ballot system. Only those who get selected through the ballot become eligible to apply for the young professional Scheme visa.

The upcoming ballot will open at 2:30 pm IST on 20 February 2024 and close at 2:30 pm IST on 22 February 2024.

Young Professionals Scheme (YPS), established in May 2021, is agreed as part of the India-UK Migration and Mobility Partnership to offer young individuals to pursue careers in the UK. This partnership underscores commitments by both nations to enhance migration arrangements and strengthen cooperation on immigration violations between India and the United Kingdom.

India Young Professional Scheme Ballot: Application Procedure

As per the official announcement, 3,000 places are available for the India Young Professionals Scheme visa in 2024. The ballot system will be available in two slots one in February and another in July. The majority of the places will be made available in the February ballot and the remaining places will be available in the July ballot.

Applicants need to provide their name, date of birth, passport details, passport scan copy, phone number, and email address. The successful entries are picked randomly and those selected under the ballot system are informed about the results by email within 2 weeks of the ballot closing.

The ballot system entry is free and only those who are planning to apply for the visa should consider it. Those successful in the ballot will be invited to apply for the Young Professional Visa.

India Young Professional Scheme Visa: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the ballot, citizens are advised to check the eligibility criteria. To be eligible for the India Young Professional Scheme visa the candidate must be an Indian Citizen between age 18 to 30 years. One should have a qualification at a bachelor’s degree level or above and shall have £2,530 in savings to support in the UK. The application cost for a visa is £298.

Those selected by the ballot system will get 90 days from the date of the email to apply online for the India Young Professional Scheme Visa. The results of the ballot are final and cannot be appealed against by anyone in case of unsuccessful.

Through its Youth Mobility Scheme, the UK extended the chance to citizens from Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. In 2023 the ballot was held for the India Young Professionals Scheme in March and July. Taiwanese citizens are also included in the most recent February 2024 ballot.
