BJP spokesperson Anil K Antony attacked Pinarayi Vijayan-led Communist government on Wednesday for alleged irregularities in cooperative banks across Kerala. He was talking to reporters after inaugurating hunger strike in front of Kandala cooperative bank, Thiruvananthapuram. The strike was organised by BJP as a protest against cooperative banking scams.

“Ever since Pinarayi Vijayan led government came to the state, only two things -corruption & communalism- have grown in the state,” Mr. Antony said.

He then listed the alleged scams during the government’s period including, Corona kit scam, Onam kit scam, and PSC recruitment drive scam. Adding further, BJP spokesperson said that shocking revelations on thousands of cooperative banks across Kerala have also came up in past two three months, where lakhs of people deposited their money in these banks are in risk due to severe banking irregularities.

Across Kerala, there are several instances of people losing their deposits, and reports of people committing suicide because they have lost life savings, he said. In “such dire scenario”, BJP have decided to fight to ensure that people get their money back and justice delivered. “BJP will be fighting in every district to ensure that people get their money back and also justice…,” Mr Antony said.

He then added that communist party in order to hide their corruption will blame everyone except themselves. Though there are strict regulations of RBI regarding lending money, the cooperative banks blatantly violated them, and Mr. Antony says that these actions were done with the knowledge of Communist government.

When things have gone out of control, and hundreds of banks are in the verge of shut down, government blames everyone “to mask their own irregularities,” he said.

Mr Antony, former head of the Kerala Congress digital media cell and son of former defence minister A. K. Antony quit Congress and joined the BJP in April. BJP appointed him as the National Spokesperson of the party in August.
