DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) organised a human chain across Kerala, from its northern district Kasargod to the southern district Thiruvananthapuram. The move is against central government’s policies and negligence towards the state. The human chain which started at 5 pm on January 20 covered 651 km, and over 10 million youth is reported to be participating in the chain.

The chain started from front of Kasargod railway station and ended in front of Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram. The first link of the human chain is said to be All India president of DYFI, A A Rahim Changala, and the last link will be EP Jayarajan, the first president of DYFI.

The human chain is organised as a protest against central government’s neglect towards the state, recruitment ban, and train travel issues. Prominent personalities from various fields of social, cultural, cinema, and literature from the state were expected to take part in the protest. It is said that from Ernakulam district alone, more than one people will form the human chain. After the human chain, a general meeting will be held in which, prominent political leaders will participate.
