Five Medical Students Killed After Car Collides With KSRTC Bus

Alappuzha, Kerala: In a tragic incident, five students from Alappuzha Medical College were killed after an Innova they were travelling collided with KSRTC bus in Alappuzha’s Kalarkode. A group of seven youths were in the car. Reports said one student died on the spot while four of them died after they were brought to the Alappuzha Medical College hospital. The bus, departed from Guruvayoor was on its way to Kayamkulam.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammed Ibrahim, a native of Lakshadweep, Muhammed Jabbar, a native of Kannur, Ayush Shaji, a native of Alappuzha, Devanand, a native of Malappuram, and Sreedeep, a native of Palakkad.

Gauri Shankar, Alvin and Krishnadev, who were in the car, were seriously injured. The accident took place at around 9.45 pm on Monday. All students are from Alappuzha Medical College, where they are in first-year MBBS course. Reports said the passengers in the bus were thrown out after the front window was broken due to the impact of the collision.

Eyewitness accounts said the students were taken out of  the completely damaged car by cutting it open. The injured were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
