Kasaragod, Kerala: At 47, Juwana Abdulla is reviving her dream, which she left behind when married in 2000. The mother of four children has now cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and is pursuing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
Hailing from Kanhangad in Kasaragod, Juwana cleared the competitive medical entrance test in her first attempt. After a pause of 25 years from studies to raise children, Juwana goes to a dental college half an hour from home, balancing study and life together, Indian Express reported.

Notably, her family — husband, an ENT surgeon, children also in the medical field — shows what drives her foreword and the support she receives from home. Juwana’s eldest daughter is a house surgeon, and her sons — Salih Abdurrazak and Salman Abdul Qadir — are medical students.
“Age is no bar, it is just a number,” says Juwana, whose positive attitude and the support from family helped her reach her potential, navigating through all the challenges.

For Juwana’s fortune, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had lifted the 25-year age bar for NEET in 2022. Jumana says it was during the pandemic that she saw many people, including her son attending online classes. She also saw even people of her age clearing the test, and thus decided to prepare for NEET herself. \
Notably, instead of joining coaching classes, she depended on YouTube and her children for her studies, surprisingly helping her to clear the NEET on her first attempt.
