Kochi, Kerala: A magistrate court in Ernakulam has granted bail to Malayalam film director Ranjith Balakrishnan in a sexual harassment case. Hearing the case, Judicial First Class Magistrate L Usta granted the relief to the filmmaker.

The director was arrested on sexual harassment allegations filed by a young actress. The court had earlier granted the police the custody of the Ranjith for three days, from April 5 to April 6.

However, the court pointed out that no custody application has been filed by the prosecution, granting bail to the filmmaker. The counsel appearing for Ranjith submitted that no notice was served on him prior to the proceedings.
