Kerala Court Awards Man Rs 15 Lakh As Compensation Over Wife's Extramarital Affair
Pathanamthitta, Kerala: A family court in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district has awarded Rs 15 lakh in compensation to an Ernakulam native who alleged that his wife was in an extramarital relationship during their marriage. The amount will carry 6% interest from July 2018, when the petition was filed
The court directed the victim’s former wife, her mother, brothers and a friend to pay the amount to the man for breakdown of his marriage triggered by the woman’s ongoing extramarital affair and deception. The court found these family members and friend had actively participated in and conspired in actions that contributed to the collapse of the marriage.
The court also directed the woman to return the 32g of gold ornaments given by the groom’s family at the time of the marriage, adding that she must pay their present market value along with 6% annual interest if the ornaments cannot be returned.
The Ernakulam native had filed the case alleged that his former wife concealed past pregnancies, underwent abortions, and continued an affair with another man after marriage.
