Kerala Techie Disguised as Women Arrested for Implanting Camera inside Ladies Washroom

A 23-year old techie was arrested for allegedly disguising himself as a woman and secretly implanting a camera inside the ladies washroom, in Kochi on Wednesday.

The accused was identified as Abhimanyu from Karivellur in Kerala”s Kannur, reported the Hindustan Times. He is a B-Tech graduate and currently working at a leading IT firm based at Kochi Infopark.

Mr Abhimanyu was arrested when the security staffs of Lulu, a shopping mall located at Edappally by a leading business group in India, got suspicious. He was wearing a black burqa, a woman garment that completely covers the body, while caught by the staff and customers.

During the following inspection a mobile phone, that contains videos of women, was found hidden in the toilet.

The accused was arrested by the Kalamassery police and then remanded for 14 days in judicial custody by the local court. He was booked for the offences under “sections 354(C) (Voyeurism) and 419 (Impersonation) of the IPC, and Section 66 E of the Information Technology Act”, Hindustan Times quoted the PTI. 

He entered the ladies washroom wearing the burqa and placed his mobile phone inside a small cardboard box leaving a hole in it for recording the visuals, said the police. After letting the camera near to the washroom door, he went out and stood near the main door of the washroom.

The security personnel, who noted his suspicious behavior informed the local police. In the police questioning, they found that he had hidden a camera inside with a video recorder switched on. The burqa and mobile phones were seized by the police.

While being caught, Abhimanyu claimed that he is a lesbian. The video of the incident, which is now in circulating in social media displays women questioning his “lesbian identity”.
