In the Mirzapur constituency, Anupriya Patel of the Apna Dal (S) is leading with a winning margin of 45,118 votes by holding a total of 446146 votes. Where as, Ramesh Chand Bind of the Samajwadi Party (SP), the runner up, had secured a total of 404802 votes.
Anupriya Patel, who has been serving in the Mirzapur constituency since 2014, came in to the position the of president for Apna Dal after her father’s death in October 2009. She was the Minister of state in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Government of India from 2016 to 2019. In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election of 2012, she successfully secured a position as a member from the Rohaniya constituency in Varanasi.
Anupriya Patel is the daughter of Sone Lal Patel, who founded the Apna Dal (Soneylal) that is based in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Chand Bind, the sitting MP, emerged victorious on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janta Party, representing the Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency in 2019 general elections. But, in 2024, he joined in the Samajwadi Party (SP).
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Anupriya Singh Patel secured 53.34% of votes with a margin of 591,564 votes by defeating Ram Charitra Nishad of SP.
