As the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in the Gurgaon constituency concluded with neck to neck tussle, Rao Inderjit Singh of the BJP secured victory with 808,336 votes, winning by a margin of 75,079 votes over veteran actor and Congress nominee Raj Babbar in Haryana.
The BJP fielded Rao Inderjit Singh, a seasoned politician and the incumbent Member of Parliament. Singh, who has held various ministerial positions and has been an influential figure in South Haryana politics, aimed to retain his seat. In the 2019 elections, he won decisively with 881,546 votes, defeating INC’s Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav by a substantial margin.
Congress nominated veteran actor and politician Raj Babbar. Babbar, with a long career in both politics and cinema, brought a high profile to the race. He has previously served multiple terms in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and was the state President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.
Other notable candidates included Fazilpuria, a popular singer-rapper representing the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), Vijay Kumar from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Sohrab Khan from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) who lost in the tight race.
