INDIA Alliance, Maharashtra NDA Meetings Tomorrow In Mumbai

As the INDIA alliance parties of India”s opposition bloc are scheduled to meet in Mumbai to brainstorm their Lok Sabha election strategy, the BJP-led Maharashtra government has also announced a meeting to conduct a review of all the Lok Sabha seats in the state. Discussions regarding the NDA preparations in Maharashtra, the state that has 48 Lok Sabha seats, will be held at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde”s official residence over dinner on August 31. Posters and hoardings of INDIA opposition alliance leaders have been put up in Mumbai ahead of the alliance”s third meeting, which will be held on August 31 and September 1, according to news agency PTI.

  1. The INDIA alliance is expected to release its logo and will deliberate upon its Lok Sabha elections strategy in the Mumbai meeting.
  2. Reports say, the 26-party INDIA alliance will add more parties to its fold in their meeting. The Congress party has said some NDA alliance partners are in touch with the INDIA alliance to join them.
  3. Sonia Gandhi is expected to attend the Mumbai meeting.
  4. According to NDTV report, after an initial meeting at Chief Minister Shinde”s official residence on August 31, more meetings will be held in the presence of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on September 1.
  5. “All preparations are done. Shiv Sena is the host of INDIA alliance meeting, along with Congress and NCP. Leaders from across the country are coming to Mumbai,” said Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
  6. The INDIA alliance members will gather at a luxury hotel in suburban Mumbai.
  7. Congress”s Uttar Pradesh chief Ajai Rai has named Rahul Gandhi as INDIA alliance”s Prime Ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April and May months next year. However, Congress Leader PL Punia had said the name of the Prime Minister post of the bloc will be decided after alliance”s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
  8. “The most important agenda of the meeting would be to strategise a plan to win the (Lok Sabha) elections. In the meeting, everyone will deliberate over the decision on the convenor (of the opposition bloc),” National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said.
  9. “LPG rates were reduced by Rs 200 after Patna and Bengaluru meetings (of INDIA alliance). I am sure that petrol and diesel rates will come down after the Mumbai meeting,” said AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on INDIA opposition bloc”s scheduled meeting in Mumbai.
  10. “The CPI is of the view that enough discussions have happened within four walls and there is strong commitment and understanding at the national level to fight together. Now is the time to go on the ground and mobilise people,” said CPI leader D Raja, reported news agency PTI.
