The Election Commission of India will announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha election on Saturday at 3 pm. The Poll Body on Friday during a press conference announced that the poll dates of the Lok Sabha election along with some state assemblies will be revealed tomorrow.

The four states that are expected to vote in April or May are Arunachal Pradesh, Odissa, and Sikkim. Other states including Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand are scheduled to vote later this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is expected to win its third consecutive term. He has won the election in 2014 and 2019 by bagging the majority.
Campaigning to win the upcoming polls has already begun and BJP is in complete confidence to win over 400 seats over 543 seats in Lok Sabha.

The Election Commission has announced that nearly 97 crore Indians will be eligible to vote in the year’s Lok Sabha election. He highlighted that there is a 6% increase in registered votes since 2019.

The poll body also added that two crore youth electors in the age group of 18 to 29 years have been added to the voters list. The Election Commission stated that following the delimitation of constituencies, they have completed revision of electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir and Assam. “The endeavour, undertaken with meticulous planning, coordination and participation of political parties has yielded noteworthy achievements in terms of inclusivity, health and purity of the electoral rolls,” the EC stated.

Systematic checks are being conducted across states towards election readiness. Polling stations will be increased. Both factors will imply security considerations. Efforts are also taken to explore the feasibility of conducting simultaneous elections across the country.
