Malayalam actress Mallika Sukumaran was heard endorsing the NDA candidates from the state in a recent video shared by the BJP Kerala to garner support for its candidates. In the video posted by the X (formerly Twitter) handle of the saffron party, the mother of actors Prithviraj and Indrajit asked the people to vote for candidates suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an apparent political campaigning, the celebrity mother stated that she has a lot of respect for Prime Minister Modi and hence she also respects his candidates. She further urged the people to cast their votes on April 26 for a good share of 20 candidates pushed by the Prime Minister.

In the video, Mallika Sukumaran claims that Kerala is currently going through a “dangerous time,” and that a change is needed for the state. She also said that she is praying to god to improve the situation in the state.

‘If you vote for a good share of candidates of the Prime Minister’s faction, I am sure a noticeable change would happen in the state,’ she added.

Reacting to the actress’s video, journalist S.R.Praveen in a post on X asked if the Malayali celebrity mom endorsed the “fascists due to genuine love for the politics of hate or to corner some plum post or so that her son could win a national award.”

“Also, what did she mean by her claim that Kerala is going through “dangerous times”? The danger, if at all, is from the ones she supports,” The journalist wrote.
