BJP Candidate Praveen Patel won from Phulpur with a margin of 4,332 votes. Patel has gathered a total of 4,52,600 votes while SP candidate Amarnath Singh Maurya received 4,48,268 votes.

Praveen Patel got Lok Sabha ticket by replacing Kehsari Devi Patel. By fielding the sitting MLA of Phulpur, the party aimed at gaining regional vote bank. Patel maintains a deep route connection with the major electorate.

Meanwhile, SP fielded the well-experienced politician Amarnath Singh Maurya. He serves as the state secretary for SP.

Interestingly, both candidates were members of the BSP earlier.

Phulpur is the constituency of stalwarts and heavyweights. Former Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, has contested from the seat multiple times. Former Prime Minister VP Singh has also got elected from Phulpur once.

In 2014 and 2019, BJP secured victory in the constituency. Keshav Prasad Maurya and Keshari Devi Patil won the seat in 2014 and 2019 elections, respectively. SP came second in both elections.
