Samajwadi Party's 25-Year-Old Pushpendra Saroj Defeats BJP's Vinod Kumar Sonkar In Kaushambi

Pushpenra Saroj, the 25-year-old Samajwadi Party candidate garnered 509787 votes, leading around 103944 votes in Kaushambi constituency. The BJP candidate and incumbent MP has been pushed behind with 405843 votes. The BSP candidate comes third with 55849 votes according to the update of election commission.

Vinod Kumar Sonkar, the BJP candidate, is the sitting MP of Kaushambi since 2014. He served as the chairperson of the Lok Sabha parliamentary committee on ethics and served as a national general secretary of BJP.

The 25-year-old Pushpendra Saroj candidate has entered to the political fray on the ticket of SP. He is the son of the five-time MLA and a former UP cabinet minister as an SP candidate. Indrajeeth was the SP candidate for 2019 Lok Sabha election. Pushpendra’s candidacy is a sign of the party’s favour to youngsters.

BSP placed Shubh Narayan as the candidate. Kaushambi is SC reserved seat.

In 2014, Vinod Kumar Sonkar won against Shailendra Kumar of  SP by accumulating 331724 votes whereas SP managed to receive 288824 votes. In 2019, Vinod Kumar Sonkar repeated his victory by receiving 383009. Indrajeeth Saroj, the BSP candidate, received 344287 votes
