Shiva Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday commented on AIADMK-BJP split, and said the present National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is weak and more parties will break ties with BJP ahead of 2024 elections. He added that the real strength of NDA was Shiva Sena and Akali Dal.

“When we formed INDIA alliance that is when they remembered NDA… Till then it was “Modi alone was enough’. But the moment INDIA alliance was formed, (PM) Modi was not enough alone, they needed more support… If Shiva Sena and Akali Dal is not there, then there will be no NDA… Shiv Sena and Akali Dal were the real strength of NDA… This NDA is very weak. Not just AIADMK, but more parties will break ties with the BJP…. BJP will sink before 2024…” Raut said.

On Monday, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) officially ended its alliance with BJP-led NDA alliance. The party announced that they have decided to lead an independent front for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

BJP and AIADMK had a strained relationship over past few months. And the speculations came to end on Monday after the official announcements. The decision was taken after BJP Chief’s “insulting” comment on late AIADMK leader and former chief ministers Jayalalitha and CN Annadurai. Party cadres welcomed the decision by setting off fireworks at party headquarters.

“AIADMK is breaking all ties with BJP and NDA alliance from today. The state leadership of the BJP has been continuously making unnecessary remarks about our former leaders, our general secretary EPS and our cadres for the past one year,” KP Munusamy, AIADMK Deputy Coordinator and former minister said announcing the decision.

The AIADMK and BJP has formed partnership several times over the course of history, and recently it was in 2019 and had only one Lok Sabha seat.
