‘Time For A Guarantee Wave, Not A Modi Wave’: Bengaluru Central Candidate Mansoor Ali Khan

The Congress candidate for Bengaluru Central for the 18th Lok Sabha elections has adopted an interesting strategy to kick-start his election campaign. He began from Mahadevapura near the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar messaging people about the importance of the constitution in the Indian political system. According to Mansoor Ali, he aims to transform Bengaluru into a model constituency and promised to work for the development of the constituency.

The educationist by profession Mansoor Ali Khan is contesting against the 3 times BJP MP P.C. Mohan on key parameters of water problems, infrastructure, quality education, unemployment, healthcare, sustainable development, environmental protection, and traffic issues in Bengaluru. He criticised the BJP government for not prioritizing the constituency for the development. Khan expressed his concern over the high unemployment rate in the state despite the high demographic dividend.

The Bengaluru Central constituency includes Sarvagnanagar, CV Raman Nagar, Shivajinagar, Shanti Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Rajaji Nagar, Chamrajpet, and Mahadevapura. Out of the 8 assembly seats, 5 were won by the INC and 3 by BJP candidates in the 2023 assembly elections. The constituency was formed in 2008 and since 2009 BJP candidate P. C. Mohan has been electing from here. This year again BJP fielded P. C. Mohan for the polls. The BJP candidate secured 50.35% votes in the 2019 general elections while the Congress candidate Rizwan Arshad won 44.43 percent votes. However, this share went down for BJP and Congress registered higher votes in the 2019 elections in comparison to 2014.
