"To Those Who Are Raising Their Voices Against . . .": PM Modi On Rahul Gandhi's 'Shakti' Remark

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi“s “Shakti” remark erupted controversy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi confronted it as a challenge.

On Sunday, at the concluding ceremony of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi commented that his party and the entire opposition are fighting against a “Shakti” (power). Addressing an audience at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, the Congress Leader attacked the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and compared them to “Shakti”, a powerful symbol in Hindu mythology and worship and often associated with Goddess Shakti. The BJP has criticised Congress MP”s remark as an insult to the Hindu faith and expressing his “misogynistic mindset.”

Similarly, while addressing a Lok Sabha election rally in Telangana”s Jagtial on Monday, PM Modi responded to Rahul Gandhi”s comment and said that for him, every mother and daughter is a form of “Shakti’ in the country.

“The INDI alliance hosted a rally in Mumbai yesterday. They declared that their fight is against “Shakti”; For me, every daughter, mother and sister is personification of “Shakti”. To those who are raising their voices against “Shakti”, I accept your challenge. I am willing to sacrifice my life for Nari Shakti,” Prime Minister said.

He then added that the landing point of the Chandrayaan-3 was also named ‘Shiv Shakti’.

Rahul Gandhi”s controversial remark at the concluding ceremony went like this: “There is a word “Shakti” in Hinduism. We are fighting against a Shakti. The question is, what is that Shakti. The soul of the King is in the EVM. This true. The soul of the King in the EVM and every institution of the country, in ED, CBI and Income Tax department.”

Continuing further, attacking the Prime Minister, Congress MP said that “Modi is a mask” who works for a Shakti. “He is a shallow man who doesn’t have a 56-inch chest,” he added.
