In a tragic event, two young people were killed, after a vehicle in the convoy of BJP Lok Sabha candidate Karan Bhushan Singh from Kaiserganj constituency ran over four people in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, Zee News reports. The two others have been seriously injured in the incident. The BJP Kaisergani candidate is the son of the sitting MP and sexual harassment accused Brij Bhushan Singh. The election in the constituency was held during phase five, on May 20.
It is reported that whether Karan Bhushan was present in the convoy at the time of the accident is being examined by the police. Karan Singh”s name was not mentioned in the initial report. The car has been seized by the Uttar Pradesh police.
Dropping two-time MP Brij Bhushan Singh from Kaisergani, the BJP had picked his son Karan after the country”s top wrestlers accused the BJP leader of sexual misconduct and intimidation. Brij Bhushan Singh was the former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), and following the protest by wrestlers, he was removed from the post.
Notably, his son and the BJP candidate Karan was elected as the president of Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association. The election had triggered the wrestlers, and many expressed their discontent by posting protest posts on social media.
The nomination of Karan also drew sharp criticism from the wrestlers and the opposition parties. They stated that giving the ticket to the son of the accused was akin to supporting Brij Bhushan.
Earlier in 2021, four farmers had lost lives after Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP MP Ajay Kumar Mishra”s car hit a group of protesting farmers. The farmers had alleged that Ajay Kumar”s son was driving the car when it hit the farmers, and that the car deliberately ran over the theme.
