Uttar Pradesh: Atul Garg Leading With Massive Margin In Ghaziabad

Atul Garg, the BJP candidate from Ghaziabad is leading the election with 789,875 votes, surpassing his nearest rival by a significant margin of 297,057 votes. Dolly Sharma of the Indian National Congress (INC) has secured the second position with a commendable 492,818 votes, while the BSPs’ Nand Kishor Pundir trails in third with 74,408 votes in the  Lok Sabha Election 2024.

Atul Garg, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, has been nominated to replace the sitting MP and former Army Chief, General VK Singh, who won the previous two terms from the constituency. Garg previously won the Ghaziabad assembly segment in the 2017 assembly election and became a minister in the state government. The Indian National Congress candidate from Ghaziabad is 40-year-old postgraduate Dolly Sharma, a businesswoman. Ghaziabad, known as the gateway of UP, is a politically significant constituency for many factors, including its proximity to Delhi.

Ghaziabad has been a BJP stronghold since its formation in 2008. It’s known for its urban development and industrialization. In the 2014 election, General Vijay Kumar Singh of BJP won by receiving 758,482 votes. Congress’ Raj Babbar, the runner-up, garnered 191,222 votes, while the BSP candidate Mukul and SP Sudhan Kumar came very close behind him, gaining 173,085 and 106,984 votes, respectively. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, VK Singh won by garnering 944,503 votes, and SP showed strength by increasing its vote share to 443,003 for its candidate Suresh Bansal. The current INC candidate Dolly Sharma secured 111,944 votes and finished third.
