Kripanath Mallah of BJP has won the Karimganj constituency for the second time, pushing back his rival Hafiz Rashid Ahmed of Congress with a margin of 18,360 votes.
Kripanath Mallah’s political journey started with his commitment to community service and grassroots development by winning the Goan panchayat presidency. His political aspirations to the community extended beyond the panchayat level as he became the Assam Legislative Assembly candidate of Ratabari constituency and marked his entry into the Indian National Congress in 2011.
He established his political influence in the Ratabari constituency by securing the seat in the 2016 election. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha election by contesting in the Karimganj constituency by securing a total of 473046 votes, which was 44.62% of the total votes, defeating the AIUDF candidate Radheshyam Biswas with almost 38389 vote differences.
