Who Is Narayandas Ahirawar Who Defeated The Union Minister From Jalaun

Samajwadi Party (SP)’s Narayan Das Ahirwar tasted the victory from the SC reserved Jalaun constituency. The SP leader defeated the sitting MP and the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises,  Bhanupratap Singh, with a margin of 53,898 votes. Ahirawar gathered a total of 5,30,180 votes while Bhanupratap Singh received 4,76,282 votes.

Narayandas Ahirwar is a former minister of Uttar Pradesh state government. He was a member of BSP. He stopped taking major responsibilities after 2014 and started aligning with SP. He was contesting on behalf of INDIA alliance. However, the SP leader emerged as one of the giant slayers in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Bhanupratap Singh, the sitting MP of Jalaun, is contesting for the third time from this constituency. He is the minister of state in the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises. He has been a member of parliament since 1996. He belongs to Koli community. He started his political career as a municipal councilor, later in 1991, he was elected as MLA. He was the vice president of SC Morcha of Uttar Pradesh

Jalaun is a reserved seat for SC. It has been a citadel for BJP for years. SP has nominated the veteran politician to fray to compete with BJP.

In 2014, Bhanupratap Singh won the seat by accumulating 5,48,631 votes, defeating Bhrijlal Khabri of BSP who received 261429 votes. SP and Congress cornered to third and fourth positions. Bhanupratap Singh won with a margin of 287202 votes. In 2019, though Bhanupratap Singh managed to win with a huge margin of 158377, BSP candidate, Ajay Singh, could diminish it from 287202. He received 423386 votes. Congress placed third in this election
