Mehdi Hasan is forming his own digital media company. The former MSNBC host said that his company, Zeteo will give space to “speak bluntly about racism, fascism, genocide, and more and provide a platform for other journalist to do so”. The name of the digital media, Zeteo is an ancient Greek word “that goes back to “Socrates and Plato”. Meaning of Zeteo is “to seek out, to inquire, to get the truth”.

Hasan said that is exactly the guiding principle of his media venture. According to Hasan, the subscription-based news organization will “bring you hard-hitting interviews and unsparing analysis that you won’t find elsewhere”. The journalist said, Zeteo will have broad range of opinions and ideas – not just his own.

He said, he has been busy “a la Nick Fury assembling an Avengers-style team of contributors”. In the promotional video of the digital platform, Hasan said Zeteo will have big names from media, activism, and Hollywood, that “will blow your mind”.

Taking to his social media platform, Hasan shared the promotional video and wrote, “in this era of war aboard, fascism at home, and propaganda everywhere”, he hopes he can count on people’s support.

In January this year, Mehdi Hasan announced his departure from MSNBC “for a new challenge”. He told the viewers of the Mehdi Hasan Show that it was his own decision to leave the media network. He said, “it’s been an absolute blast doing this live show on MSNBC for the past three years with an amazing team of producers behind me”. Talking about Zeteo, Hasan said “it’s time for a new media organization that isn’t afraid”.

The accessibility of the site will cost users with $6 per month with an annual subscription. It will publish a weekly streaming show “Mehdi Unfiltered”, which will be hosted by Hasan. A weekly podcast and a regular slate of written pieces with prominent contributors as host, as reported by Washington Post.

Talking to CNN, he said Zeteo is a digital media platform that seek the “truth in an age of misinformation and gaslighting”.

The British-born Mehdi Hasan has worked with Al Jazeera English and Intercept, before hosting his own show in NBC in 2020. He said his departure from MSNBC was “amicable” and that he is not aware of any prohibition against him appearing on the network as a guest. He said, MSNBC wanted him to stay and had discussions about him staying, but ultimately he decided to quit instead of being a fill-in anchor, without a regular program of his own.

Talking about his decision to quit from MSNBC, Hasan said, “anyone who knows me known I have always been a bit of a square peg in a round hole in that I have wanted more freedom than some of these places have been able to offer for me”.
