Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha dismissed any plans of the INDIA alliance fighting against the BJP in Delhi and expressed his complete faith in the party’s abilities to defeat the saffron party on its own in the upcoming Delhi elections.

Speaking to the media, the Rajya Sabha MP said, “AAP is fully capable of defeating the BJP on its own strength in Delhi. I don’t think that Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi,” as quoted by ANI.

Following the Congress’ performance in the recently concluded Haryana assembly elections, the AAP MP divided India’s elections into two categories. He elaborated that the first category of elections is where regional parties single-handedly defeat the BJP on its own, such as DMK in Tamil Nadu, TMC in West Bengal, and AAP in Delhi.

Chadha stated that the second category of elections was where the Congress “becomes weak in front of BJP in a direct fight” and fails to defeat them. Explaining further, he added that the grand old party only stands a chance against the BJP when it gets the support of the constituent parties of the INDIA alliance but not alone.

“As we have seen in the elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The Aam Aadmi Party is fully capable of defeating the BJP on its own strength in Delhi. I don’t think that the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi,” said Chadha.

Emphasising the strength the party wields in the national capital, the AAP MP said that the party won and successfully formed the government three consecutive times in Delhi.

“In 2015 and 2020, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP formed the government with the biggest mandate in the history of independent India,” highlighted Chadha.

The Delhi elections are scheduled to be held in February. The party has witnessed several lows in recent times with the resignation of former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in September.

At the same time, the party opened its political account in Doda Constituency and secured its first in UT in the Haryana assembly elections. AAP candidate Mehraj Malik defeated BJP candidate Gajay Singh Rana in the J&K Assembly elections 2024 with a margin of 4538 votes.
