The police have filed a total of 19 FIRs over the last three days against parents whose children were found driving or riding vehicles in violation of traffic rules in Noida and Greater Noida. Officials reported that nine FIRs were lodged on Friday, with five each on Thursday and Wednesday. The cases were registered under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to a senior official, most FIRs were filed under BNS Section 125, which pertains to acts endangering human life or safety, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Section 207, granting power to detain vehicles used without proper registration or permits.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate issued a stern warning to parents regarding the operation of vehicles by individuals under 18 years old. Penalties for such offenses include fines of up to Rs 25,000, potential legal actions against parents or guardians, vehicle registration cancellation for 12 months, and no eligibility for a driving license until the age of 25 for the minor.

This crackdown is part of a broader campaign by the police to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws, responding to multiple incidents involving minors not only in Noida and Greater Noida but across the country.

In an official statement, the Noida Police reiterated that allowing underage children to drive any vehicle is both illegal and unacceptable. The traffic police said they are committed to public safety and urged parents to prevent their underage children from operating motor vehicles. Rigorous enforcement checks will be conducted, with violations being met with strict action under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act.
