'India First Among G20 To Fulfill Paris Commitments On Green Energy': PM Modi

India is hosting the 2nd International Summit on Green Hydrogen from September 11-13 held at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the summit in a virtual mode and applauded India’s commitment towards achieving its commitment and actions for green energy.

The objective of the summit is to develop an outlook and understanding towards green energy development.

During the virtual address of the summit, Prime Minister Modi said, that India is the first among G20 nations to fulfill its Paris commitments on green energy.

PM Modi said, “These commitments were fulfilled nine years ahead of the target of 2030. India installed non-fossil fuel capacity increased by nearly 300% in the last ten years. Our solar energy capacity increased by over 3,000% in the same period. But, we are not resting on these achievements. We remain focused on strengthening existing solutions. We are also looking at new and innovative areas. This is where green hydrogen comes into the picture”.

During the CoP26 India committed for an ambitious ‘Panchamrit’ pledge which includes reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity, genergating half of all energy requirements from renewable, reducing the emission by 1 billion tonnes by 2030.

India aims to reduce the emission intensity of GDP by 45 percent and also committed to net-zero emissions by 2070.

India’s Green Hydrogen Mission has progressed significantly with 4,12,000 tonnes per annum for green hydrogen production, issuing tenders for 4,50,000 tonees per annum of green hydrogen capacity and 7,39,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia production.
