According to the police, Arjun Haore, an engineer by profession, was behind the wheel accompanied by businessman friend Ronit Chinthamwar. The two individuals were arrested however, they were released on bail soon after. Their blood samples have been sent to a forensic lab to check for alcohol content.
As per TOI, the BJP chief’s son, Sanket, escaped the crime scene during the 10-kilometre ride after he realised the situation was getting worse. A senior police officer stated that Sanket was, however, not present at the crime scene. Based on his X bio, Sanket serves as the general secretary of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagpur Gramin, the youth wing of the BJP.
The luxury car reportedly came out of an upscale pub around 12:30 am before ramming into three cars and a scooter in Ramdaspeth in Nagpur. After driving 6 km further, the car again crashed into another vehicle in Mankapur. “At T-Point there, the vehicle hit a Polo car. Its occupants chased the Audi and stopped it near the Mankapur bridge. Three occupants, including Sanket Bawankule, fled,” stated PTI, quoting an unnamed officer from the Sitabuldi police station.
A case of rash driving and other offences was registered. An officer from the police stations stated that a further probe is in progress.
न्याय सर्वांना सारखा असायला हवा मग… pic.twitter.com/EJuXHXOypd

Bawankule admitted that the Audi car was registered in his son’s name. The senior BJP leader stated that a thorough and impartial investigation free of bias should be conducted. “Those found guilty should be charged, and appropriate action should be taken against them. I have not spoken to any police officer. The law must be equal for all,” the BJP leader said, as per PTI.
