A couple traveling from Bhopal to Agra on the Vande Bharat Express train on Tuesday discovered a cockroach in their meal. The disturbing image of the meal was shared on social media by their nephew, Vidit Varshney.
The nephew shared the photograph on social media and demanded immediate action against the vendor to prevent recurring such incidents. “On 18-06-2024 my Uncle and Aunt were travelling from Bhopal to Agra in Vande Bharat. They got “COCKROACH” in their food from IRCTC. Please take immediate action against the vendor and make sure this would not happen again,” he wrote on X.

Though the officials have responded, the incident has sparked a backlash against the hygiene standards on Indian trains. Many took the incident to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw demanding an explanation.
A similar incident was reported earlier wherein a Vande Bharat passenger found a cockroach stuck in one of the rotis which were served while traveling from Bhopal to Gwalior. And the IRCTC had imposed a fine on the vendor.
