Large-scale mourning and demonstrations are being observed from several parts of Kashmir on Sunday against the killing of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israel strike. Thousands of people took to the streets to condemn the murder of the Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei on Sunday.

Iran’s Supreme Leader was martyred at 86, the Iranian state media has confirmed early Sunday.

Demonstrations were reported from Srinagar, Sonawari and Bandipora. Hundreds of Kashmiri Shia Muslims were on the street while carrying banners and posters of Iran’s Khomenei.

People in Iran have considered Khomenei a person who had stood against oppression and injustice. The Iranian leader has always been considered a symbol of courage, while the world remained silent on issues such as the genocide in Gaza. Ayatollah Khomenei was revered as a leader of the oppressed.

For Shia Muslim Community in Srinagar, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was more than a foreign political leader but he was a Marja-e-Taqlid (a Source of Emulation).

All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA), a union of Shia groups, has called for a protest to mourn and to show solidarity against the US-Israel led oppression in the region.
