The list of the most powerful passports in the world has been released, and securing the top spot is the Singapore passport. But where does India rank?

Created by London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners, the Henley Passport Index has been tracking global freedoms in 227 countries around the world for nearly two decades. The index uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The Henley Passport Index places India at the 82nd spot, with visa-free entry available for Indians to 58 countries. Along with India, countries like Senegal and Tajikistan also share the 82nd rank.

On the first is Singapore providing visa-free access to an impressive 195 countries. Closely following behind are countries such as France, Japan, Germany, Spain, and Italy tied in second place, offering access to 192 countries.

In the third rank, Finland, Luxembourg, South Korea, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, and the Netherlands all have visa-free access to 191 destinations. Coming in fourth place are the United Kingdom, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, and New Zealand.

Both Australia and Portugal share the fifth spot. Dropping to the eighth spot, the United States offers visa-free access to 186 countries.

While Singapore ranks first, on the other end of the scale lies Afghanistan, ranking as the world’s weakest passport as per the index. Afghanistan offers travel to 26 countries without visa. Notably, it is the lowest score recorded in the index’s history of 19 years.
