Amid soaring temperatures in the Delhi-NCR region, a homoeopathic doctor shared a photo of what used to besan ke laddoo but had melted into a ‘cake’ due to the heat.

The Delhi-NCR region has been witnessing an unrelenting heatwave since May this year, with temperatures soaring along with the demand for electricity. Among the unbearable chaos, residents have taken to social media to share their experiences while tackling the heat. In one such viral post, a homoeopathic doctor shared a photo of what used to besan ke laddoo but had melted into a ‘cake’ in the heat.

“Dear, Besan ke laddoo. Welcome to Delhi ki garmi!” captioned Bhumika, sharing a photo of the melted laddoos which looks like a cake.

One social media user quipped, “Besan ke laddu identifying themselves as besan ka halwa,” and another said, “Is Garmi mein Ladoo bhi pighal ke halwa ban gye…” Meanwhile, several netizens could not believe that there were laddoos in the box. “Is it real?” and “Seriously they were laddoos?” were some of the questions they asked.

The blistering heat has resulted in the deaths of a total of 192 homeless people, the highest number of deaths recorded in the period, in Delhi between June 11 and June 19, according to a report by the NGO Centre for Holistic Development. A total of 20 deaths have been recorded in just three major hospitals in Delhi.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority released guidelines for citizens to protect themselves from heat strokes and other heat-related problems.

Minimum temperatures in the national capital have crossed the 35-degree point, while the maximum temperatures loom around 45 degrees Celsius. Power demand has surged to a record 8,647 megawatts (MW) this week, reported BBC. On top of that, the national capital is also struggling with an ongoing water crisis.
