Scammed: Delhi Woman Pays Twice, Gets Fake Speakers From Amazon

Every day a new story of an online delivery scam is reported. Due to the lack of direct contact between sellers and consumers, it is easy to fall prey to a scam online. With fraudsters creeping along every nook and corner, victims may experience incidents of getting sent the wrong or poor-quality products, or sometimes nothing.

In a recent incident, a Delhi resident called Swati Singhal claimed that her data was compromised after the tablet that she ordered from Amazon India was replaced by “fake speakers.”

Taking to Facebook, Swati warned customers using Amazon, “This message us to all who relies on Amazon, it is shocking to see how Amazon is forging people, data gets compromised at the back end for cheating people.”

Explaining her case, the woman claimed that when she flagged the issue to the e-platform, Amazon assured to deliver her original order but required her to pay. However, when Swati claimed she had already paid the fee, Amazon informed her that the company would investigate the matter and trace where her initial payment went.

“In a day received orders twice, one I did COD and other online payment. Both order slips were identical. In the first order received fake speakers instead of tablet which we ordered, and second was right order. But we paid twice. The info about the order got leaked from Amazon, so as to forge,” she complained. Swati stated that she shared her experience with the goal to “spread the awareness” among other customers.
