Astronomy enthusiasts were delighted to witness the rare celestial event of a Super Blue Moon on August 30, when it became visible in the sky across the world.

As the saying goes, certain things happen once in a Blue Moon. But on a day when the world looked up to witness the Super Blue Moon, a “once in a super blue moon” photo was born It was clicked by Indian Express” award-winning journalist Tashi Tobgyal. He managed to get a snap of the Super Blue Moon from the Indian capital.

The photo shows the Super Blue Moon as well as the Kartavya Path in New Delhi, which features the iconic India Gate. In the photo, the Super Blue Moon appears to be placed above the India Gate, as if the monument is carrying the moon on top.

A Super Blue Moon is a rare astronomical event that occurs when three astronomical phenomena coincide: A full moon, a perigee moon (a full moon that is closest to Earth in its orbit) and a blue moon (the second full moon in a calendar month).
