Neeraj Chopra won gold at the World Athletics Championships yesterday and now a video is going viral in which his mother talking about “the player” Arshad Nadeem, Neeraj Chopra”s biggest competitor in world javelin throw meets.

In a press meet, a reporter asked Neeraj Chopra “s mother, Saroj Devi, about how she feels about the Indian Olympic gold medallist overcoming a “Pakistani athlete” to finish first.

Diflecting the loaded question by the reporter, his mother said: “A player is a player, it doesn”t matter where he comes from, I am glad that the Pakistani player (Arshad Nadeem) won as well”.

“This whole family is GOLD,” commented X user Roshan Rai after posting the video.

In the early hours of August 28, 2023, Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra made history. He became the first Indian to win gold in the history of the World Athletics Championships.

The Olympic gold medalist’s throw of 88.17 meters at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, brought glorious memories for Indian sports enthusiasts.

The 25-year-old Chopra is now the only Indian to have won gold medals at the Olympics (Tokyo 2021), Asian Games (2018), Commonwealth Games (2018), and U-20 World Championships (2016). He also has the Diamond League title from last year.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the silver medal after a throw of 87.82m while Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic who threw 86.67m won bronze.
