India sets a new world record and clinched gold medal in the men”s 10 air rifle team event on Monday, Day 2 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar aggregated 1893.7 in the qualification round. They smashed the world record by scoring 1893.7 points. While at the same time, quartet of Jaswinder, Bheem, Punit and Ashish secured a bronze medal bronze medal in the Men”s Four Rowing event.

The trio shot a total of 1893.7 points in the individual qualification round surpassing the record set by China. South Koreans finished in second place with 1890.1 points, while China came in third with total score of 1888.2 points. After securing gold medal, all three shooters are now qualified for the top-8 in the 10m Air Rifle event. But Divyansh will miss the chance as only two participants from each country can qualify for the final, as per the Asian Games rule, says India Today.

Rudrankksh scored 631.6 points for the team while Aishwary and Divyansh scored 631.6 and 629.6 points for India. This victory will boost the Indian team after attaining its first gold medal at the Asian Games 2023. India wrapped up first day with 5 medals- three silver medals and two bronze medals.

The first medal for India was won by Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh in the men’s lightweight double sculls event.

Balra Panwar finished in fourth position in the men”s sculls final. While Shrihari Nataraj managed to qualify for the men”s 50 m backstroke final. Now all eyes are on Indian women”s cricket team, who will  face Sri Lanka today. They both will be eying a maiden cricket gold medal at the Asian games in Hangzhou. This is the first India”s appearance in the women”s cricket tournament at the Asian Games. While Indian men”s football team pulled out a 1-1 draw against Myanmar to reach the round of 16 for the first time since 2010. But India women”s football team is eliminated after their defeat against Thailand for 1-0.
