Soon after India declaring World cup team, Australia has also named its squad for ODI World Cup on Wednesday.

Australia had named a preliminary squad of 18 members for the 50 over match last month. The unlucky trios to miss the final cut are all-rounder Aaron Hardie, pacer Nathan Ellis and young spinner Tanveer Sangha.

The big surprise is the omission of Marnus Labuschagne reckoned as the quality batter.

Fast bowler Pat Cummins will once again lead the five-time champions Australian team. Senior players like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, etc are included in the team.

Aalex Carey and Josh Inglis are the two wicket-keeper batters in the squad. Carey’s impressive show in the last World Cup in England and Wales in 2019 is likely to make him as the first preference.

“There are eight one-day matches still to play in South Africa and India before the final squad is due to be declared. They are followed by two World Cup practice games, which offers plenty of opportunity to continue the build for the tournament,” PTI quoted selection chief George Bailey as saying.

Few Australian stars faces injuries to overcome and thus, Bailey believes that all players will be declared fit before submission of the final squad to ICC after taking part in India series which is to be held in the backend of the month.
