Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has not yet given up on his dream of playing test cricket for his country. Maxwell said that his record in the subcontinent could earn him a recall for the first time in more than seven years when the team tours Sri Lanka in early 2025. Meanwhile, Maxwell is not part of Australia’s squad which is set to take on Pakistan in a three-match Test series at home.
Maxwell when speaking to SEN said that there are not a lot of spots up for grabs in this Australian Test side, stressing the fact that they are World Test champions.
“I”m quite understanding of the circumstances of the current side. They”re playing some really good cricket, they’re World Test champions. There are not a lot of spots up for grabs as far as Tests at home,” said Maxwell.
He then added that he could be a real viable option when it comes to playing Test matches in the sub-continent.
“I”m quite understanding of the circumstances of the current side. They”re playing some really good cricket, they’re World Test champions. There are not a lot of spots up for grabs as far as Tests at home,” said Maxwell.
Maxwell has played seven test matches for his country. His crucial role in his team helped the Aussies to claim the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World cup title in Dubai 2021. He also starred the Aussie’s recent World Cup campaign in India.
Believing to make in impact, the 35-year-old has put his name forward for selection ahead of Australia’s final series of the current World Test Championship cycle.
Maxwell is currently staying back home to prepare himself for another Big Bash league campaign, while his world-cup winning teammates are gearing up for three-match series against Pakistan.
Pakistan is all set to face the Prime Ministers XI in a four day contest in Canberra before they clashes with the Aussies. Australia will hold Pakistan in the first Test from December 14 in Perth which will be followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and the New Year”s Test in Sydney.
