A Bangladesh fan, ‘Tiger Robi’, was on Friday attacked by locals during the second Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital by the local police and the venue officials after being allegedly hit on the lower abdomen by some spectators.
“They hit me on my back and lower abdomen and I could not breathe,” Robi told Sportstar as the security personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
However, his allegation was denied by local police, saying “One of our officers found him gasping for breath near the C block entrance, and he was struggling to speak. It seems like a case of dehydration, but we will wait for the doctors’ advice”.
The Bangladesh fan was present in one of the stands during the second Test, waving his national flag and chanting slogans, while painted in ‘Bangla Tigers’ colour. He reportedly got into a confrontation with local spectators during the first session before the security personnel took control of the situation.
However, the spectator was hit during lunch by the local spectators, with police still to verify the official CCTV footage.
