The two cricketing titans- India and Australia will lock horns against each other on Sunday, November 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Two decades later, these two behemoths will meet again in the ODI World Cup final. It was 2003 at the New Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, when these two lasts met. It was an epiphany of joy for Aussies when they won their third ODI World Cup title and that too without loosing a single match on the trot. But for India it still remains as a haunting memory.
And this time, India will get an opportunity to heal those wounds which still remains fresh in the hearts of Men in Blue and Indian fans. India has emerged as the undefeatable in this World Cup. Though Australia lost in the first two matches, many wrote off the five-time champs. But they remained unbreakable and has now reached into the finals. They have once again booked their slot for the eighth time in the World Cup finals.
But looking at today’s match, India is the clear favourites as they have won every single match with dominating performances. Be it chasing a total or setting a target, skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have given the team the much-needed support. The bowling department of India has always been a nightmare for the batting line. Mohammed Shami has set the whole batting line on fire in the previous match. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj has also been brilliant with the new ball. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav had also kept the scoreboard in check. Everything is under control, they just have to maintain the momentum to emerge victorious.
