Ahmedabad, Gujarat: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium as host for the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on June 3. Earlier, it was decided that the final match would take place at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The change in shifting the venue comes following the temporary suspensions of the tournaments earlier this month due to the heightened India-Pakistan tensions.

It is said that the reason for changing the IPL venue was the rain forecast for June 3. As per the revised schedule, after a short pause in the tournament, June 3 was set for the final match.

The decision was made during a BCCI meeting today. Notably, the newly-built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur in New Chandigarh will host the first two playoff matches, the Qualifier 1 and the eliminator, scheduled for May 29 and May 30, respectively. Going by the revised IPL 2025 schedule, the league stage ends on May 27.

Meanwhile, due to the heavy rainfall and flood-like situation in Karnataka and Bengaluru, the BCCI has shifted Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Mya 23 to Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Karnataka has been experiencing heavy rainfall in the last two days, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across the state.
