Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to travel with the squad for the fourth Test in Ranchi, as per a report in Cricbuzz. Bumrah who has scalped 17 wickets in the first three matches will be rested for the fourth, keeping his workload management in mind. It is, however, still not known if he will return to the squad for the fifth and final Test against England in Dharmshala.
The Team India squad is likely to depart from Rajkot on Tuesday. He will probably drive from Rajkot to his hometown, Ahmedabad, which is approximately four hours to be with his family. There is, however, no other development on any other player missing out on the fourth Test.
Bumrah has been at the forefront of the Indian bowling. He scalped nine wickets in the Visakhapatnam Test to be adjudged the man-of-the-match. Overall, Bumrah is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing series and has bowled 80.5 overs in the three Tests so far.
Earlier, his pace bowling compatriot Mohammed Siraj was rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam. There is no indication about who will replace Bumrah in the fourth Test. Mukesh Sharma was released from the squad during the third Test to rejoin his Bengal state team. He will rejoin the squad for the fourth Test in Ranchi.
Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led side, have the option to pick Bengal seamer Akash Deep in the fourth Test. The 27-year-old earned his maiden call up to the national team ahead of the Rajkot Test.
