Team India seamers were in full swing as their brilliance guided the visitors to a seven-wicket victory in the second Test vs South Africa on Thursday, recording their first win at Newlands, Cape Town on their ninth tour. Mohammed Siraj picked up seven wickets while Bumrah picked up eight in the match to seal victory in less than five sessions and level the series 1-1, their first in South Africa in 13 years.
Opting to bat, South Africa looked out of sorts as Siraj ran through their top order to bundle them out for 55 runs in the first innings. The Hyderabad fast bowler was the pick of the bowlers in the first innings, returning figures of 6/15 while his compatriots Mukesh Kumar and Bumrah picked up two wickets each.
In response, Virat Kohli (46), Shubman Gill (36), and Rohit Sharma (39) helped India reach 153 runs with their cameos before the South African fast bowlers fired in unison to dismantle the visitors from 153/5 to 153/10. However, Aiden Markram (106) displayed his resilience in the second innings to register a fine century after Bumrah wreaked havoc with his six-wicket haul. His 103-ball knock helped South Africa take a lead of 78 runs but it was not enough as the visitors chased down the paltry total after a fiery 28 off 23 from Yashasvi Jaiswal.
