Team India legend Gautam Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in an emotional reunion. The former India opener will be mentoring the two-time IPL champions in the upcoming season. He played a crucial role in building up the KKR franchise at the IPL 2024 auction.
KKR shared a video of his arrival on Friday along with his various moments at the franchise during his initial stint from 2011 to 2017. The moments showcased him sharing a light-hearted moment with KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan and highlighting the two seasons — 2012 and 2014 — when the franchise won the IPL titles under his captaincy.

Meanwhile, Gambhir also shared a picture of his homecoming, and captioned it as “This is my air, these are my people, this is where I stand! #AmiKKR @KKRiders”.

Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in their inaugural two seasons. Under his mentorship, LSG advanced to the playoffs in both the seasons but struggled to make it to the final. One of his main task at KKR will be to develop young players and build a synergy apart from helping them break their title drought since 2014.
KKR will begin their campaign in the IPL 2024 on March 23 against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
