Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was spotted endorsing his old friend Paramjit Singh”s brand with his new bat sticker during his first practice session ahead of the IPL 2024. In what is touted to be his “”last dance”” in professional cricket, Dhoni was seen practicing with a bat that wore a “”Prime Sports”” sticker on it, ahead of the lucrative tournament.
For the uninitiated, Prime Sports is a sports goods brand in Ranchi, owned by his friend Paramjit Singh. His friend was pivotal to his cricketing career as he played a major role in helping Dhoni get his first bat sponsors. Paramjit”s role is also highlighted in the biopic, “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”.
Dhoni will be eyeing to lead CSK to a record sixth title in the upcoming season. He led the franchise to a record-equalling sixth title with a win over defending champions Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final that took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Although his future is speculated among the fans, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that only Dhoni knows if it is his final season.
“That I do not know. See, as far as the captain is concerned, he will answer you directly. He does not tell us what he is going to do,” Viswanathan was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Dhoni retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020. However, he continued his service for CSK, and has completed a milestone 250 matches, accumulating 5082 runs at an average of nearly 39.
