Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy are set to enter the ‘million dollar club’ in the IPL after making their T20 debut for Team India against Bangladesh in the first match at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior on Sunday.
As per a report in PTI, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) will have to pay INR 11 crore each to retain the services of the rising Indian fast bowler and all-rounder respectively.
It, however, remains to be seen if Mayank and Reddy are retained by their respective franchises.
“There is no way that LSG will put a rare bowler like Mayank back in auction pool. They have invested in him for past two seasons and he will certainly be one among the top three retentions,” an IPL insider told PTI.
The new IPL rules state that any ‘uncapped player’ who makes his international debut in any three formats before the auction will be elevated to the ‘capped player’ category.
Yadav had a decent outing with the ball on his Team India debut by bowling economically while picking up the wicket of Mahmudullah. He was also praised by his senior compatriot Arshdeep Singh.
“The experience is there, the more you play the better you get. Everyone bowled well, especially Mayank was very good.”
The all-rounder, meanwhile, was costly in his two-over spell while batting at a run-a-ball rate.
The duo will be next seen in action in the second match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday.
