Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Najam Sethi has been continuously raging out against ACC as the rain threat looms over Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka throughout the group stages.
The Asia Cup games are played in a hybrid mode as suggested by PCB, in which four out of 13 games will be played in Pakistan and the rest in neutral territories like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This mode was implemented as the BCCI has refused to sent Indian team to Pakistan, citing diplomatic reason. Initially both the countries refused the proposal but was later agreed upon.
ACC (Asian Cricket Council) led by Jay Shah declared the change of IND-PAK match to Hambontota due to rain forecast initially, but later it was announced that the tournament will go on as per the initial schedule and will be no change.
The sudden change angered Sethi and asked whether India is afraid of losing to Pakistan.
Sethi commented on X along with a weather forecast in Colombo which clearly depicts the dominance of rain in the capital city.
“BCCI/ACC informed PCB today that they had decided to shift next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota because of rain forecasts. Within one hour they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What’s going on? Is India afraid to play and lose to Pakistan? Look at the rain forecast!”, he posted on X.

Sethi has earlier asked the ACC to conduct the tournament in UAE which was ruled out by Jay Shah as he said UAE is not ideal for a 50 over format match.
“The Asia Cup 2022 was played in the T20 format in the UAE. We cannot directly compare the dynamics of a T20 tournament to those of a 50-over One-day format”, Jay Shah said.
